Andrew    Adair
Andrew Adair is a jazz pianist and vocalist who has performed as both a
bandleader and sideman around the world.
»
As leader of the Andrew Adair Trio, currently based in Washington, D.C., Andrew brings his soulful vocal stylings and hard swinging trio to venues in the nation's capital, including a regular engagement at Twins Jazz Club on U Street. Andrew's first CD, entitled "States," was released in 1999 on the Barcelona-based Fresh Sound New Talent label, and has received critical acclaim.

"Pianist Andrew Adair was a constant asset, sustaining both unexpected breaks and a sense of completion in his lines while maintaining a balance between right- and left-hand attacks that added special luster to his block chords. Adair's solo on 'Cool Breeze' was a shape-splitting delight, while his support during the duo reading of ‘Easy Living' revealed an unselfish accompaniment with a rich, ringing touch."
-Bob Blumenthal, Boston Globe

"Andrew Adair had a particularly attractive ability to play airy, open lines."
-Don Heckman, Los Angeles Times
As a sideman, Andrew has performed with such jazz greats as Donald Harrison, Benny Golson and Curtis Fuller, Tim Warfield, Bobby Watson, Herlin Riley, Frank Lacy, Terell Stafford, and the Juilliard Jazz Faculty Ensemble. Andrew's three-year association with alto saxophonist Donald Harrison included a CD release on the MCA/Universal record label, as well as appearances at such legendary jazz venues as The Village Vanguard, Sweet Basil, Birdland, Yoshi's, Joe Segal's Jazz Showcase, the Free Jazz Festival (Brazil), the New Orleans JazzFest, the Umbria Jazz Festival (Italy), and many others.

Andrew began playing the piano at age six. After a period of classical training, including a year at The Juilliard School in New York, Andrew switched his focus during college to the jazz idiom. In 1995 Andrew moved to New Orleans, where he studied with Ellis Marsalis. After joining Donald Harrison's working band in the summer of 1997, Andrew relocated to New York, where he was based until moving to Washington in 2002. Since arriving in Washington, Andrew has become a popular sideman with some of D.C.'s most active musicians. Highlights in 2005 included appearances at Blues Alley with vibraphonist Chuck Redd, and drummer Lenny Robinson.
